Guides are written from Microsoft's own documentation for Windows 10 and Windows 11, the VESA display control standards that govern DDC/CI, hardware manufacturers' published manuals, and the official documentation of any software described. Where a claim rests on observed behaviour that varies between machines, the page says so.

Writing about software

We describe software; we do not distribute it. No page on this site hosts an installer, mirrors a file, or wraps another project's application in our own package. Links to software point to the developer's own site or to an official store listing.

We do not accept payment for inclusion, for a positive description, or for a position in a comparison. Where a tool has real drawbacks — unmaintained code, hardware incompatibility, a method that does not do what its name implies — we state them.

Advertising

This site carries advertising. Advertisers have no access to the editorial process, no advance sight of content, and no influence over which tools are described or how. Any future paid or affiliate relationship will be disclosed clearly on the page it affects, before the relevant content rather than after it.

Review and corrections

Pages carry a last-reviewed date and are checked when Windows changes the settings they describe. Errors are corrected on the page itself rather than quietly removed; substantive corrections are noted. Report one through the contact page.

Use of automated tools

Drafting assistance may be used in producing content. Every page is reviewed by a person before publication, and the publisher named on the about page is responsible for its accuracy.
